Gut Brain Axis

Have you heard of the Gut Brain Axis?

If not you are missing out! The Gut Brain Axis or GBA for short is one of my favorite topics of study!

Did you know that your gut and brain are connected? That your food affects your mood and your mood affects your gut? Feel really tired and sluggish after eating a lot of sugar? Or have you felt better after eating your favorite “comfort” food? Thats because your gut and brain are connected and they have a HUGE part on the way each responds to the world.

In recent studies they have found that by changing diet depression and anxiety have improved drastically, now I am not saying that if you are on medications for depression or anxiety you should stop taking them without the direction of your primary care professional BUT you can definitely discuss the option of making dietary changes to help with your diagnosis.

Have you ever eaten something and noticed a shift in your mood either for the good or bad? Yes, once again that is due to the gut brain axis. OOO I know you have experienced a nervous tummy before, butterflies maybe? Your brain is sending signals and hormones that are affecting your gut!

Really truly a fascinating connection! If you want to improve your mood try changing up your diet.

Add in clean organic whole foods, try to avoid refined sugar and instead replace it with naturally occurring sugars, drink more water as hydration is key to our bodies being able to function properly.

Balance your microbiome and eradicate pathogens that are wreaking havoc on your gut causing dysfunction,

Did you know that mold, metals and parasites can mimic other sickness and disease symptoms? By eradicating these molds, metals, parasites, mycotoxins and other pathogens you can give your body the best chance at optimal health.

  1. I love learning and reading your information about gut health! What is your view on kefir and other things like that?

    1. Thank you! Glad that you enjoyed reading this! Kefir is a fermented product comparable to yogurt, those who can tolerate dairy it can be beneficial. I think you definitely want to find a clean kefir, organic is preferred. There are also non-dairy options too. Fermented foods can definitely be beneficial for our gut flora. The most important thing is to keep a well balanced microbiome (gut flora).
